FCS is one of world’s leading surfboard fin brands and the FCS K-3 is the signature fin for Kelly Slater, one of the world’s greatest surfers.

I worked with Kelly and FCS to design the graphic for the fin. Circles have been a recurring motif on Kelly’s signature products and he wanted to continue this theme.

The solution I developed was a bold graphic made up of 8 concentric rings. Each ring represented one of the World Titles he had won to date. These rings add detail to the design up close, and merge to create an easily recognisable doughnut shape when viewed from shore or in an action shot.
